Located in Anguilla, a true international art and antiques gallery, World Art and Antiques features theme exhibits of niche-market collectibles; notably fine archaic and classic Chinese jades and bronzes; Asian antique ceramics; African masks and sculptures; collectible Buddhas (both large and small); classical antiquities from ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and Sumeria; rare textiles from India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and other parts of Asia; tribal arts from Oceania including Maori New Zealand, Australia, Easter Island and New Guinea; and pre-Columbian art.
The Gallery specializes in forming meaningful and well-documented collections.
The Galleria section has a wide range of silver, designer semi-precious and precious stone jewelry, hand-made paper products, palm-wood, exotic candles, unusual decorative items, exquisite exotic wood, bamboo and modern furniture, lamps, mirrors, framed prints, as well as rare antique furniture and textiles. Visitors come back year after year to experience the current exhibits, peruse the latest acquisitions, and for those who finally decide to make a vacation home here, to find the furniture, furnishings and accessories to make their place perfect.
Visitors come to Anguilla because of the fabulous beaches and resorts, the friendly people, the excellent restaurants, and for those who find out about it, for the opportunity to shop in Anguilla’s unusual galleries. Most visitors repeat and for those who do, “art and antiquities shopping” opportunities is another compelling reason to return.
Over the past decade or so, the development of Anguilla’s luxury tourism product has been enhanced by World Art and Antiques and The Galleria. This business has expanded dramatically, from its original location in The Valley some fifteen years ago, to the Cap Juluca hotel and now to a custom-built 11,000 square foot premises on two floors, located in the Western part of the island, close to the Cuisinart, Malliouhana, Cap Juluca and Altamer luxury resorts. In 2007 this business will also open in neighboring Nevis, at the former Eva Wilkin Sugar Mill Gallery in Clay Ghaut, Gingerlands.
