Seated Bronze "Lanka" Buddha

Seated Bronze "Lanka" Buddha
The Buddha is seated in meditation posture, legs crossed and both hands resting in the lap. The "Lanka" style derives from the visits of monks from Sri Lanka to Thailand. The features and proportions of this bronze casting are virtually indistinguishable from the high Sri Lanka style of circa the 11th–14th century. Crusty surface with patina consistent with the period.
From Northern Thailand, 16th century, done in the Lanka-style.
Height: 9.75 inches (24.8 cm.)
