Standing Bronze Miniature Srivijaya Buddha
An excellent miniature bronze casting of a standing Bodhisattva or Buddha of the Future. The hair is piled high in an elaborate jata and falls in artful curls. The facial expression is very pleasant, the mouth smiling, the body elongated. The lower part of the body is wrapped in a long sampot reaching to the ankles and held in place by a belt, a scarf is draped over the left shoulder. The support tang is intact. Nice overall naturally aged patina.
From the Srivijaya culture, Peninsular Thailand, circa 9th century.
Height: 3.75 inches (9.5 cm.)
