Standing Bronze Miniature pre-Khmer Buddha

An unusual miniature bronze casting of a standing Bodhisattva or Buddha. The features are serene, the hair piled high in a jata. The figure wears a short sampot around the waist, held in place by a belt. Both arms are bent and are raised to the same level, the hands large. The style is pre-Khmer, with Dwaravati influences. Encrusted patina.

From the pre-Khmer culture of Thailand or Cambodia, circa 8th century.

Height: 3.75 inches (9.5 cm.)
