Large Bronze Reclining Buddha

An excellent large bronze casting of a Reclining Buddha. This depicts the Mahaparinirvana – the Final Passing of the Buddha before his final release from the cycle of births and deaths. He reclines on his right side, supporting his head on his right hand, the left arm resting by his side. The eyes are inlaid. The surface is well finished and lustrous.

From Burma, circa late 18th/early 19th century.
