Large Marble Shan Reclining Buddha
A fine large reclining Buddha, done from marble covered with red lacquer paint and extensive remains of gold leaf. The Buddha rests his head on his right hand, his robes artfully folded. He has a pointed Ushnisha on the top of his head, indicative of his spirituality. This sculpture is sensitively done, complete on its original base and in excellent condition.
From the Shan culture, circa late 18th/early 19th century, Burma (Myanmar).
