Round Bronze Mirror
A round bronze mirror with a central raised round and pierced nub, surrounded by four creatures (horse and felines) with four small figures, encircled by a band of Chinese script, again encircled by depictions of the twelve cyclic (calendrical) animals each within an enclosure. An outermost circle of finely interwoven plant and foliate motifs.
From China’s Eastern Han dynasty.
