Important Cosmic Couple or "Divine Twins" Figures

"From the mythical point of view the perfect union is represented by twins, whose prototype emerged from the world egg"

Both are naked and seated on a four-legged stool, side by side, his right arm around her waist. She has a crested hair-coif decorated with a metal pin and is seated to the man's right. Their heads are large and in simplified "Djenneke" style, with rimmed almond-shaped eyes, long noses and open mouths. The necks are columnar, the bodies elongated, navels protuberant. Heavy wood with fine ancient surface patina.
Height: 25 inches (64 cm.)
