Extremely Rare and Unusual Large Roman Glass Bird
An extremely rare and unusual large Roman glass bird of prey – a hawk or eagle - modeled in the round and with very precise details, especially the feathers. The head of the bird of prey is made from hammered gold, a gold band around the glass base. The surface of the bird’s feathers are artistically layered with applied silver leaf in parts and with excellent natural patination and finish. The entire object is in perfect condition.
